First contest of the year for me is over! A really great competitions put on by Giant's Live in London!

I was getting eager to compete as training has been good this year and to have the first competition of the year on my birhday was fun!

 

First event was the deadlift. Normal powerlifting bar and plates for max weight but straps allowed. I pulled a PB with 390kg/859lbs although it was with a slight hitch. Guys were going crazy over there. Terry Hollands pulled 412,5kg with and injured glute and torn bicep. Mark Felix pulled 420kg but was beaten by Loz and Brian Shaw who both pulled 430kg/947lbs!  Brian then tried 440kg/970lbs which came very close!

 

Second event was the farmers walk. We did 187,5kg/413lbs per hand! For 32m/105feet. I finished the course in around 22 seconds I think and got 3rd place. Got beaten by Loz and Mark.

 

Third event: Apollon's Axle for max weight. I was looking forward to this event as it had been going good in training. But I managed to pull a lat tendon somehow in the warm up which bothered me with pain. I ended up hitting 185kg/407lbs on the axle. Loz and Lalas hit 195kg/429lbs but Big Shaw won with 205kg/451lbs.

 

Fourth event was loading. We were to load 2 huge beer kegs weighin 130kg/286lbs and a ironmind sack which I think weighed the same. I was cautious due to the pulled lat but had a pretty good time and a 3rd place.

 

Fifth event: 100kg/220lbs circus dumbell for reps. Not my best event and since I had to try by using my left arm because of the small injury on the right side I was not really looking forward to it. But I gave it my best shot, came close but no good. So no rep, no points which is bad haha :)

 

Final event was the atlas stones. A pretty heavy series which I think was 130-140-160-185 and 205kg. Which is 286-308-350-407 and 451lbs. I again was careful but managed 2nd place with a time little over 21second.

 

So in the end I tied for 4th with Mark Felix. Great contest in which I had a lot of fun. Congrats for Brian on another dominant win!

 

 

Final Score
